We are happy to introduce Ms. Rebecca Opetsi Alitsi!  Rebecca will be working as a missionary in Tanzania on a short term basis.

Below is a brief summary of all her prior accomplishments, written by missionary Pam Follett:

Ms. Alitsi is a remarkable Kenyan woman who is the first in her village to graduate from college. She is currently Disability Program Outreach Coordinator for the Uzima Clinic and Diagnostic Center in Mwandege, Tanzania.

Ms. Alitsi obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Human Development from Tangaza College; The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) in 2012. She has extensive computer skills including a Certificate in Computer Applications from Strathmore University, received in 2007. She completed both primary and secondary school in Kenya, graduating from Joytown School for the Disabled with a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.

Ms. Alitsi is committed to community development and disability outreach. From Jan 2009 to Aug 2011 she was a Social Worker for Bethany Relief and Rehabilitation International at AIC Kijabe Hospital, Kenya. She was responsible for providing financial advice to patients, authorizing hospital discharges and admission, providing disability training and facilitation to children with disabilities and their parents, offering counseling to youth with disabilities, coordinating mobile clinics and organizing support groups. She has volunteered extensively with multiple international NGOs engaged in social programs, including as Secretary in the Youth Program of the Spina Bifida/Hydrocephalus Association of Kenya since 2004.

We are so happy to help support Rebecca on the field. She will be going out into homes and communities to work with children with disabilities and their families.  I am looking forward to sharing stories with you about both Rebecca’s work, and the the clinic she is working with.

Stay tuned!
