In Tanzania updates, Rebecca tells about her work.
I first met Nadia (a brilliant girl) and her mother in a village called Chatembo. Despite having cerebral palsy Nadia has a brilliant smile…. when I approached her she mumbled some words….. “I would like to go to school so that in future I can be a teacher.”
Her words gave me deep thoughts of sadness especially bearing in mind that no school would accept her: that led to a communication seminar and afterwards I scheduled her for a communication class that we do once a week. (In most developing countries children with special needs have been locked out from education system and this is what we are working on.)
Right now we have a plan of making Nadia to join the mainstream school since she has shown improvements on her communication skills!
