My name is Michelle, and I am privileged to work for my church in children’s ministry. I also work on teaching materials for the special needs program. I have the opportunity to read through curriculum and make copies and help our wonderful volunteers get everything they need to teach on Sunday.
The special needs ministry class is called, “In His Image”. In this program there are buddies that meet with an individual one-on-one, or even two-on-one. I have found that when I start preparing the lesson for this class, I am so encouraged in the Lord.
To meet the needs of one of the adults in this class, I read the bible story and create a crossword puzzle with questions. Crosswords are a good learning tool for him. But I have found this is where I start connecting to the bible story even more. This man’s needs have impacted me with the gospel of Christ.
He loves crossword puzzles. He is learning about Jesus and answering the questions in the crossword puzzle- and so am I!
In James 4:8 it says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Because of this wonderful man’s enjoyment of crossword puzzles, and his way of learning, I have felt closer to God. Thank you God for your wonderful plan. Thank you for letting me share.
